| DAVIS AND ORCOLLO WIN TITLES AT U.S. BAR TABLE CHAMPIONSHIPS |
| Mike Davis and Dennis Orcollo are the
2006 U.S. Bar Table champions, overcoming the strongest bar table fields
ever assembled.
Mike Davis had to withstand pressure from a field of 167 players and he
did it in style, going undefeated in eight straight matches after an opening
round bye.
He mowed down in order Nick Hewko, Dale Larmeu, Bernardo Chavez 9-7, Jacob
Sawicki 9-3, James Walden 9-7, Stan Tourangeau 9-8, Danny Bassavich 9-8
again, and finally Edwin Montal 9-6 to win the title, trophy and $10,000.
Montal meanwhile had to fight back from a third round loss to Frankie
Hernandez by a 9-4 score. He then defeated in order Len Swisher, Justin
Whitehead, Derek Pogirski, Morro Paez, Don McClelland, Jacob Sawicki,
Tyler Edey, Charlie Bryant 9-5, Stan Tourangeau 9-5, Dennis Orcollo 9-5
and Danny Basavich 9-8 to reach the final with Davis.

In the Eight Ball, Orcollo was clearly the class of the 227 player field, winning nine matches in a row, and getting stronger as the tournament progressed. Following a round one win, he defeated Nick Hewko, Danny Medina, Steve McAnnich, T.J. Davis, and Jason Kirkwood. In the final eight, Orcollo disposed of Max Eberle 5-1, Edwin Montal 5-1 and in the finals Montal fell again 5-1.
